Department of Sports Physiotherapy is the emerging department of DVVPFs College of Physiotherapy with qualified faculties of the department.
The department of Sports Physiotherapy is focusing on providing excellent teaching learning experience to the students in academics, On field – Off field and clinicals. The students are trained to assess, diagnose and manage sportsman or athlete by following the recent clinical practice guidelines and therapeutic techniques in the Sports Physiotherapy. The department of Sports Physiotherapy emphasizes on improving Sports Physiotherapeutic skills of the students with the condition reasoning and problem based approach through skill development training programmes in the labs. Student are also promoted for conducting projects or studies in the area of Research in Sports Physiotherapy.
Clinical Settings:
Sports Physiotherapy is a essential part for the Sportsman or an Athlete in restoring to return sports and overall functions after any injury, accident or trauma. Sports Physiotherapy aims to provide structural rehabilitation to the Sportsman or an Athlete with the target to manage functional impairments and for fast recovery. Advance treatment modalities, taping, needling and Sports Physiotherapeutic skills guidelines are used for the treatment of injuries.
Departmental Objectives:
To train undergraduate & postgraduate physiotherapy students in evidence-based practice and recent advances in Sports Physiotherapy.
To develop and implement the physiotherapy plan of action as per the trauma or condition of the Sportsman or Athlete designed to treat the condition as per symptoms, to relieve pain, promote healing, and restore range of motion, strength, endurance, coordination, balance, and improve performance as per the concerned sport & help to return to an active lifestyle.
To educate athletes on prevention and curative exercises to avoid landing in trauma in their involved sports.
