Department of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiotherapy is one of the most important from all departments of DVVPFs College of Physiotherapy having well qualified four faculties.
Department of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiotherapy focuses on maximizing functional independence and well-being. The students are trained to have a sound understanding of theory, scientific evidence and best practices in the areas of the Cardio vascular and Respiratory System including critical care, Psychosocial Sciences, Movement Sciences and Physiotherapy. We focus of improving Clinical skills of students with clinical reasoning and problem based approach through skill development training programs in labs. Knowing the importance of Research in clinical field, students are promoted for conducting small projects or studies in clinical set up.
Cardiovascular & Respiratory Physiotherapy is a patient-centred department of care with multi-system assessment, evidence-based interventions and significant patient education to promote a healthy active lifestyle. The main strength of our department is the dedication to the development of cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation and fitness programs as well as acute respiratory care in the intensive care units. We have advance assessment & treatment equipment in our OPD/IPD setup. We train our student’s for advance manual therapy techniques.
a) To focus on health as influenced by lifestyle and environmental factors
b) To emphasize on early identification, prevention and correction of risk factors responsible for development of cardio-vascular and respiratory disorders
c) To provide physiotherapy facilities for rehabilitation of patients admitted to intensive care units and those suffering from chronic cardio-vascular respiratory disorders
d) To evaluate and determine the functional status of the lungs by means of Spirometry e) To teach long term self - management strategies to persons suffering from chronic cardio-respiratory disorders
f) To access the level of physical fitness of individuals and assist in enhancing their fitness levels for a better quality of life
g) To train the post-graduate physiotherapy students in evidence based practice and recent advances in cardio-vascular and respiratory sciences.
h) To organize and provide continuing physiotherapy education programs for cardio-vascular and respiratory physiotherapy
Head Of Department
It’s an immense pleasure to brief about our Department of PT in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences.
Department of PT in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences is functioning with all modern gadgets for teaching and research. Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy is an area of physiotherapy that specializes in the prevention, rehabilitation and improvement in quality of life in patients with cardiac and respiratory diseases. It also provides excellence education in the field of Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy.
This Section serves for the patient affected with respiratory problems who need Bronchial hygiene, Airway clearance, Secretions removal, patients operated for cardio-Thoracic surgery and other surgeries to minimize the Chest complications using Manual and Independent Chest PT techniques.
I take pride that our faculty members are highly qualified and efficient in teaching as well as clinical practice. We often conduct workshop, seminars and CME to expose our students for the advancement and recent trends in the field. We encourage our students to participate in research activities, along with our faculty members to publish articles in Indexed Journals, paper presentations, culture activities and to inculcate recent advances in clinical practice.
Speciality of the department: Regular Classes for Post graduate students with Case presentations during Clinical training, Journal clubs etc and promote the evidence based practice in rehabilitation.
Our department is well designed and established for the services to the mankind and inculcate the habit of sensitive and healing touch to the patients.
WISH YOU GOOD LUCK!
