Department Details:

Department of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiotherapy is one of the most important from all departments of DVVPFs College of Physiotherapy having well qualified four faculties.

Department of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiotherapy focuses on maximizing functional independence and well-being. The students are trained to have a sound understanding of theory, scientific evidence and best practices in the areas of the Cardio vascular and Respiratory System including critical care, Psychosocial Sciences, Movement Sciences and Physiotherapy. We focus of improving Clinical skills of students with clinical reasoning and problem based approach through skill development training programs in labs. Knowing the importance of Research in clinical field, students are promoted for conducting small projects or studies in clinical set up.

Clinical Settings:

Cardiovascular & Respiratory Physiotherapy is a patient-centred department of care with multi-system assessment, evidence-based interventions and significant patient education to promote a healthy active lifestyle. The main strength of our department is the dedication to the development of cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation and fitness programs as well as acute respiratory care in the intensive care units. We have advance assessment & treatment equipment in our OPD/IPD setup. We train our student’s for advance manual therapy techniques.

 

Departmental Objectives:

a) To focus on health as influenced by lifestyle and environmental factors

b) To emphasize on early identification, prevention and correction of  risk factors responsible for development of cardio-vascular and respiratory disorders

c) To provide physiotherapy facilities for rehabilitation of patients admitted to intensive care units and those suffering from chronic cardio-vascular respiratory disorders

d) To evaluate and determine the functional status of the lungs by means of Spirometry e) To teach long term self – management strategies to persons  suffering from chronic cardio-respiratory disorders

f) To access the level of physical fitness of individuals and assist in enhancing their fitness levels for a better quality of life

g) To train the post-graduate physiotherapy students in evidence based practice and recent advances in cardio-vascular and respiratory sciences.

h) To organize and provide continuing physiotherapy education programs for cardio-vascular and respiratory physiotherapy

It’s an immense pleasure to brief about our Department of PT in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences.

Department of PT in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences is functioning with all modern gadgets for teaching and research. Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy is an area of physiotherapy that specializes in the prevention, rehabilitation and improvement in quality of life in patients with cardiac and respiratory diseases. It also provides excellence education in the field of Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy.

This Section serves for the patient affected with respiratory problems who need Bronchial hygiene, Airway clearance, Secretions removal, patients operated for cardio-Thoracic surgery and other surgeries to minimize the Chest complications using Manual and Independent Chest PT techniques.

I take pride that our faculty members are highly qualified and efficient in teaching as well as clinical practice. We often conduct workshop, seminars and CME to expose our students for the advancement and recent trends in the field. We encourage our students to participate in research activities, along with our faculty members to publish articles in Indexed Journals, paper presentations, culture activities and to inculcate recent advances in clinical practice.

Speciality of the department: Regular Classes for Postgraduate students with Case presentations during Clinical training, Journal clubs etc and promote the evidence based practice in rehabilitation.
Our department is well designed and established for the services to the mankind and inculcate the habit of sensitive and healing touch to the patients.

World Heart Day

World heart day was observed by the Department of Cardiovascular and respiratory physiotherapy(CVRS) on 29th September 2020 based on this year’s theme. The theme of this year was “USE HEART TO BEAT BREAK”.

Dr Shyam Ganvir Sir (Principal) & Dr Abhijit Diwate Sir (HOD & Professor, Dept Of CVRS) enlightened us on theme. 

Covid 19 Rehabilitation Program

On the Occasion of World Physiotherapy Day and In accordance to its Theme, Department of Physiotherapy In Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences of DVVPF S College of Physiotherapy, Ahmednagar initiated COVID 19 Rehabilitation Programme at Late Sindhutai Vikhe Patil COVID Care Centre, Ahmednagar. All the COVID Patients actively participated in the programme and were happy to learn about Post Covid Rehabilitation Programme. Staff and Students demonstrated various Breathing techniques, aerobic exercises and answered the queries of the patients. The team was lead by Prof. Dr. Abhijit Diwate, Professor and Head along with Dr. Arijit Das, Dr. Archana Nagargoje and Post Graduate students Dr. Sarvesh, Dr. Abhaya, Dr. Nikita, Dr. Aishwarya, Dr. Hridaya and Dr.Shimaz.

WORLD COPD DAY

WORLD COPD DAY was observed by department of cardiorespiratory sciences on 15th november. The theme was “All together to end COPD”

WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY

WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY was observed by DVVPF’s College Of Physiotherapy. The theme was ‘healthy lungs for all’. Awareness was given related to the condition and precautionary measures. Evaluation was done and exercises to improve lung capacity were taught

WORLD ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DAY

WORLD ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DAY was observed by DVVPF’s College of Physiotherapy. 

WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY

WORLD TB DAY was observed by DVVPF’s College Of Physiotherapy on 23rd March. The theme was “It’s time” to eliminate TB. Awareness camp was organised regarding the same the consequences of TB and the precautionary measures were explained. The role of physiotherapy and the exercises to be performed were taught and demonstrated.

WORLD HEART DAY

WORLD HEART DAY was observed by DVVPF’s College of physiotherapy on 7th of march. The theme was to be Heart heroes by making heart promise of being healthy. 

WORLD COPD DAY

WORLD COPD DAY was addressed by Department of Cardiorespiratory Sciences. The theme chosen this year worldwide was “Never too early, never too late”. On this day patients were gathered and taught exercises to combat breathlessness and sputum production. Breathing exercises were demonstrated and taught and attention to the individual was given and their queries were solved.

WORLD ANTI HYPERTENSIVE DAY

WORLD ANTIHYPERTENSION DAY  was observed by the Cardiovascular and Respiratory sciences department. The theme of this year was “Know your number”.  Banners were put so as to raise awareness and promote hypertension prevention, detection and control. Testing of blood pressure was done and education regarding high blood pressure and its risks were informed

WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY

 The theme was ‘Wanted: Leaders for a TB free world” and it was focused on building commitment to end TB. We addressed the people about awareness of TB, related symptoms, and precautionary measures by organizing a Physiotherapy camp and awareness street play at Sonewadi, Ahmednagar.

National science day was observed by DVVPF’S College of physiotherapy on 28th Feb. Theme : Science and technology for a sustainable future.
